Think “good nutrition” is code for a life of culinary deprivation? Then let Olena offer some food for thought...

As a registered and licensed dietitian nutritionist and a formally trained pastry chef, Olena knows that enjoying delicious meals is a cornerstone of a well-lived life. “I don’t believe in ‘bad’ foods,” says the professional culinarian. “Instead, I help my clients achieve a life-affirming balance between enjoying great-tasting dishes and honoring their body’s needs for sound nutrition.”

Olena’s integrative approach emphasizes the process of learning to make good choices. “I help my clients take into account all aspects of their lives -- not just what they eat -- as we chart a course toward overall wellness and good health.” That process can include everything from inspiring self-professed kitchen-phobes to discover the joys of cooking to guiding busy families toward quick, wholesome alternatives to highly processed fast foods.

With culinary talents that extend far beyond desserts, Olena delights in designing individualized strategies. “I don’t believe that ‘one diet fits all,’ she says. “And I don’t believe in tying one’s sense of self-worth to what you eat.  Instead, I encourage my clients to invest in their health while enjoying delicious cuisine that just happens to be nutritionally balanced. It’s an approach that not only contributes to good health, but ultimately results in a more rewarding quality of life.”

Among Olena’s professional credentials, you’ll find an MS degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Kent State University.  In addition, she holds a diploma in advanced pastry arts techniques from the International Culinary Arts & Sciences Institute, has worked as a pastry chef in some of Northeast Ohio’s finest restaurants, and has assisted in new food-product design, development and packaging for both local and national clients.  She is frequently in demand as a speaker and instructor at area culinary schools and events, and offers information and tempting original recipes as a contributor to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Food & Nutrition website.

As a health professional, Olena also recognizes that physical activity is another key to good living. She displays her commitment to an active lifestyle by taking part in circuit and interval training, strength training, yoga, biking and walking and hiking. As a living example of someone who has integrated the love of good food with the joys of healthful living, Olena looks forward to helping you achieve the same rewards and pleasures in your own daily experience.

More about Olena...

The Arts...

  • The creative and musical arts have always been a mainstay in my life. I began playing the piano at the age of 4, have been part of various choirs and vocal ensembles, and continue to rediscover photography. My life would not be complete without being able to express myself musically and artistically.

Book Enthusiast..

  • I am a book nerd! I once remember walking to my locker with a book literally in front of my nose in middle school. I don’t read as much fiction these days though when I do, it’s a real treat.

Animal Lover...

  • I am a pet person and truly enjoy the unconditional love and source of entertainment that our feline and canine friends provide. I had a Shetland Sheepdog for almost 17 years and currently have an Olde English Bulldogge who is quite the character.
